Shine On Harvest Moon--Kennekuk Cove Star Party

Everyone, young and old, is invited to bring your binoculars to Kennekuk Cove County Park, Nature Center, on Thursday, October 5th for a Star and optional Costume Party celebrating the Harvest Full Moon. Talks begin at 6 PM with a discussion on the formation of the moon and its vital role for life on earth--culturally and it's impact on wildlife and even vegetation.

Discussions will include the recent Solar Eclipse and the next Great American Eclipse in 2024 and the effects of light pollution on the skies, humans, and wildlife. Prizes will be awarded for best Harvest Moon or star costume. Hot apple cider and treats will be available.

Full moon rises at 6:47 PM and viewing will be available until 8 PM.

Please bring your binoculars for viewing the Harvest Full Moon!
